Our Story
This journey began in 2022 when my partner and I bought some bikes and wanted a safe way to bring our dog, Remi, along for the ride. We tried using a trailer, but neither Remi nor I enjoyed it. After a lot of searching, I found a bike seat for dogs, but it was only suitable for small breeds. As our Remi was 17.5kg, I decided I had to create my own design.
I initially had no plans to produce and sell my dog bike seats to others. However, due to the overwhelming interest in ours, I decided to create a design that I would feel confident offering to others.
From there, My Doggy Throne was created, and I went on to sell more than 100 seats in two years.
New chapter
After two years of making My Doggy Throne by hand, I decided in the summer of 2024 that it was time to take the next step to create a great design and have the seats professionally manufactured.
I worked for the next 6 months, and invested nearly all of my savings into perfecting the design for both the seat and the mounting frame. After countless revisions and sleepless nights, I finally arrived at a design that honored the essence of the original My Doggy Throne—one that we truly loved.
Tragically, during the final stages of this journey, we unexpectedly lost our beloved Remi. Her passing broke our hearts, and for a brief moment, I considered giving up on the project entirely. But I knew I had to see it through in her memory.
Although Remi never had the chance to try out her new seat, my hope is that what is now Pooch My Ride (by Remi) will bring joy to as many people and their dogs as possible, carrying forward her legacy with love.
Injection Mold
Tooling
The development process for the injection mold tooling began in December 2024 and took just over a month to complete. It involved a combination of CNC machining and meticulous handcrafting. The next stage will focus on polishing and refining the tooling to achieve the desired finish for Pooch My Ride.
