Instructions
The following instructions will guide you through the process of configuring the Mounting Frame and installing it onto your bike. Please ensure you follow these steps carefully and review the guide below before taking your dog out on the Pooch My Ride. Must NOT be mounted onto carbon fibre or titanium seat posts.
Watch our installation videos here, or you can download a PDF of the instructions here.
Step 1
Ensure all parts are in the box.
Based on the style of your bike, you’ll need to assemble the mounting frame to suit the styling of your bikes crossbar.
Step 2
Standard Crossbar
For bikes with a standard crossbar, configure your mounting frame as shown.
Step 2.1
Step Through Bikes
For step through bikes, configure your mounting frame as shown.
Step 2.3
When setting up for a Step Through Bike, remove the bolt. Next, push Part 1 into Part 2 as far as it will go, making both parts one rigid unit. Once aligned, reinsert the bolt and firmly fasten.
Step 3
First attach the mounting frame to the bike’s seat post (1) and loosly tighten the screws. Repeat the process on the other end of the frame onto the crossbar (2), before ensuring both sides are firmly fastened.
Must NOT be mounted onto carbon fibre or titanium seat posts.
Step 4
Mount the dog carrier to the mounting frame and align it so that it matches up with the frame’s mounting holes on the side and the top.
Step 5
Insert the quick-release clamp into the hole at the top of the frame. Loosly tighten the lower bolt underneath the frame.
Step 6
Insert the shaft locking pin and close it.
Now you can go back to the quick-release clamp to fasten up and lock in its horizontal position.
Step 7
Finally, inspect all screws and bolts on the mounting frame to ensure they are securely tightened.
Please Read Carefully
This product is intended exclusively for transporting dogs and should not be used to carry children or any items other than a dog.
Please carefully review the instructions before placing your pet in this seat. Ignoring these guidelines may lead to severe injury. By attaching the Pooch My Ride Dog Carrier to your bicycle, you confirm that you have read and understood all warnings and instructions.
Be aware that transporting a pet on a bicycle carries certain risks, similar to those you face while riding. Pooch My Ride/Brit Innovations Group is not liable for any injuries that may occur. Only experienced adult cyclists who are fully confident in their riding skills should use this seat to transport a pet. The Pooch My Ride Dog Carrier is designed solely for leisurely riding; engaging in extreme cycling with your pet increases the likelihood of injury.
Before every ride, ensure that all screws and bolts are tightened and securely in place.
DO NOT INSTALL ON A CARBON FIBER SEAT POST – If your bike has a carbon fiber seat post, replace it with one made of aluminum or steel.
Harness
Just like a seat belt on a child car seat, the Pooch My Ride safety harness is specifically designed to limit unnecessary movement, ensuring your pet stays securely in place for a safe and enjoyable ride. It’s essential to use this harness at all times.
Pre-Ride Check
Before every use, make sure the seat is firmly attached to the bicycle and that no parts are cracked, loose, missing, or broken.
Ride with Caution
Given the added size and weight when transporting a pet on a bicycle, it’s crucial to exercise extreme caution at all times. The rider may need to make quick adjustments if the pet shifts its weight unexpectedly.
Placing Your Dog
Take care when placing your pet into the seat and when removing them. This should be done in a safe area, away from potential distractions like other pets or traffic.
Take it Slow
Start with brief rides on smooth surfaces in a safe, distraction-free environment. Only increase the ride’s duration once both you and your pet are comfortable and confident. Avoid extended rides during extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold, and always bring water along for your pet.
Never Leave Your Dog Unattended
Never leave your pet unattended in this seat. Due to the higher center of gravity, a bicycle could tip over if left on its stand or without proper support.
Ride Safely
Finally, ensure that your pet does not become a distraction while riding. Keep your attention on the safe operation of your bicycle, obeying road rules, and staying aware of your surroundings, including other cyclists, pedestrians, and traffic.
